Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a full-service veterinary hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana, hiring a Hospital Veterinarian to provide comprehensive care for small animals. The hospital is part of a larger Vetco Total Care network and focuses on delivering high-quality veterinary medicine with advanced equipment and a skilled support team.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday through Saturday with varied hours: Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Thursday closed, Friday and Saturday from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and Sunday closed. This is a full-time role, with schedules aligned to hospital hours.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Hospital Veterinarian will perform routine and complex medical care, including physical exams, diagnostics, preventive care, anesthesia, and treatment planning. Clinical responsibilities include performing surgeries such as spays, neuters, abdominal exploratories, and mass removals, as well as dental procedures including extractions and oral surgery. The role involves developing treatment plans for hospitalized patients, collaborating with referral hospitals, and contributing to rounds and staff education. This position is open to experienced veterinarians and expects strong communication, problem-solving, and client interaction skills.

Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with modern technology including ultrasound, heated hydraulic surgery tables, DDXR, and a full surgical suite. Facilities include in-house labs and a supportive medical leadership structure. Services offered include routine wellness care, vaccinations, preventive medicine, flea, tick, and heartworm control, imaging, dentistry, prescription medications, and treatment for illness and injury. The hospital culture emphasizes patient-centered care, teamwork, and professional growth.

Team
The team consists of three DVMs supported by a skilled paraprofessional staff. The environment is collaborative, encourages ongoing learning, and fosters collegial interaction among veterinarians and support staff to ensure high-quality patient care and client satisfaction.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
