Job Description

Introduction
Our client is an established small animal veterinary hospital seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian to join its growing team. Having served its local community for over 20 years, the hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care for dogs, cats and a variety of small mammals and pocket pets, including rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, hamsters, gerbils, mice and rats. The practice offers a supportive, collaborative environment where veterinarians are encouraged to develop their clinical interests, exercise professional autonomy and deliver high-quality patient care.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will manage a varied caseload encompassing preventative medicine, wellness examinations, internal medicine, dentistry, surgery, diagnostic investigations, senior care, pain management, behavioural medicine and urgent or emergency presentations. Responsibilities also include developing treatment plans, providing client education and building lasting relationships with pet owners. Experience with pocket pets is not required, although opportunities are available for veterinarians interested in expanding their knowledge of these species. Both experienced veterinarians and new graduates are encouraged to apply. New graduates will benefit from a structured one-year mentorship programme, including a dedicated clinical mentor, scheduled mentorship sessions, surgical training and dental development opportunities. Experienced veterinarians will have clinical autonomy alongside opportunities for continuing education and professional development.

Practice Details
The hospital offers a comprehensive range of General Practice services, including preventative care, vaccinations, microchipping, internal medicine, dentistry, surgery, cancer treatment, laser therapy, nutritional counselling, reproductive counselling and emergency care. Equipment and facilities include an on-site laboratory, radiography, ultrasound, laser technology, surgical facilities and a fully stocked pharmacy, supporting thorough diagnostic investigations and treatment. The practice places a strong emphasis on personalised medicine, client education and maintaining high standards of patient care. The hospital operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with Sundays closed.

Team
The hospital has two DVMs supported by an established team of experienced veterinary support professionals. The practice promotes a collaborative environment where veterinarians can discuss challenging cases, share knowledge and receive support from their colleagues. New graduates have access to structured mentorship, including dedicated clinical guidance, regular progress meetings and practical training opportunities. Experienced veterinarians are encouraged to contribute their expertise while continuing to develop their own clinical interests, with additional educational resources available through a wider veterinary network.
