Introduction
Our client is a veterinary hospital seeking a Medical Director to lead their established small animal practice. The hospital provides care for dogs and cats and has been serving the community for over 30 years. This is a leadership opportunity for a veterinarian looking to shape clinical standards, guide team development, and influence the future direction of the practice, while remaining actively involved in a varied caseload that includes both general practice and urgent care cases.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, with alternating shorter days on Thursdays and Fridays closing at 3:00 pm. The hospital is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. This position offers flexibility and a strong focus on work-life balance.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will lead the clinical team while continuing to deliver high-quality patient care across wellness and preventative medicine, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, urgent care, and senior pet care. Responsibilities include guiding medical protocols, mentoring and developing the veterinary team, influencing workflow and scheduling, and driving clinical standards within the hospital. The role remains hands-on clinically, with opportunities to perform surgical procedures beyond routine cases, while working collaboratively with the existing DVM and support staff. This position is suited to experienced veterinarians, including those ready to step into a leadership role.

Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with full-body and dental x-ray systems, an Integra ultrasound, Idexx in-house laboratory equipment, a new dental unit, and a surgical laser. Facilities include paperless records through a cloud-based system and a modern setup designed to support both general practice and urgent care. The practice is committed to progressive medicine and community-focused care, offering services including wellness and vaccinations, dental care, diagnostics, surgery, emergency and urgent care, end-of-life care, puppy and kitten care, and senior pet care. Additional support is provided to enable leadership development, operational success, and long-term growth within the hospital.

Team
The team includes two DVMs supported by experienced and long-tenured staff, many of whom have been with the hospital for over a decade. The environment is collaborative, supportive, and culture-focused, with a close-knit team that values adaptability, mentorship, and professional development.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
