Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a privately owned veterinary rehabilitation hospital seeking a board-certified ACVSMR Veterinarian to join their team and help expand advanced sports medicine and rehabilitation services in the Charlotte region. This is a unique opportunity for a veterinarian who would like to develop and grow a sports medicine service as if it were their own practice, while benefiting from the financial resources, management support, established clientele, and infrastructure of a successful independent veterinary organization. Providing care for dogs and cats, primarily dogs in the rehabilitation setting, the hospital already has a well-established rehabilitation service and experienced rehabilitation team. The goal is to build upon that foundation by expanding the level and breadth of sports medicine and advanced rehabilitation services available to patients and referring veterinarians throughout the region.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As an ACVSMR Veterinarian, you will have significant autonomy in developing the hospital’s sports medicine and rehabilitation service, including helping determine services offered, equipment needs, referral relationships, scheduling, workflow, and opportunities for future growth. The ideal candidate is excited by the opportunity to build and grow a service without the financial risk and administrative burden of starting a practice independently. The hospital’s ownership and management team will provide operational, financial, marketing, and administrative support while allowing the veterinarian meaningful independence in shaping the medical program. Clinical opportunities may include advanced musculoskeletal and sports medicine evaluations, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation planning, regenerative and interventional therapies, joint injections, shock wave therapy, performance and conditioning programs, and collaboration with referring veterinarians and specialists. The position can be structured around the successful candidate’s professional interests and vision. Both full-time and part-time arrangements may be considered.

Practice Details
The rehabilitation hospital is open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on Mondays and Thursdays, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturdays. Current rehabilitation services include acupuncture, medical manipulation/chiropractic care, electrical stimulation, hydrotherapy, manual therapy, medical massage, therapeutic laser, and therapeutic ultrasound. The current facility includes an underwater treadmill, two Class IV therapeutic lasers, therapeutic ultrasound, and non-slip flooring throughout. The practice is moving into a new 6,000-square-foot facility in 2027, providing an exciting opportunity for the incoming veterinarian to help shape the next phase of the practice. The expanded facility will include two underwater treadmills, digital radiology, sedation/procedure capabilities, and dedicated space for expanded sports medicine services, with plans to incorporate shock wave therapy, joint injections, and other advanced treatment options.

Team
The current team consists of three DVMs, including highly experienced rehabilitation veterinarians, alongside an experienced and dedicated rehabilitation support team. The incoming ACVSMR veterinarian would join an established practice with a strong rehabilitation caseload and referral relationships while having the opportunity to develop a more comprehensive regional sports medicine service. This position is particularly well suited to a veterinarian who has considered practice ownership or building a specialty service of their own, but would value doing so within an established organization. The goal is to provide the autonomy and professional fulfillment of growing your own practice, combined with experienced managerial support, financial backing, an existing client and referral base, and freedom from many of the administrative responsibilities and risks associated with independent ownership.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
