Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a private practice seeking an Associate DVM to join their small animal hospital, which operates across two clinics under the same ownership. The position focuses on providing care for dogs and cats, with occasional appointments for small mammals and birds. The role offers the opportunity to work primarily from the southern clinic while supporting both locations as needed, within a collaborative and supportive veterinary team.

Working Hours / Rota
The clinics are currently open Monday through Friday with no weekend hours, though there are hopes to reintroduce Saturday hours in the future. This role includes participation in an on-call rota approximately every fourth week after clinic closing until the following morning, with veterinary technicians also participating in the on-call schedule. Full-time positions are ideally four days per week with flexible scheduling, while part-time schedules are also considered with a minimum of three working days.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate DVM will provide comprehensive small animal care including wellness exams, preventive care, vaccinations, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgery. Preventive services include annual physical exams, parasite control, and vaccination protocols. Surgical responsibilities include routine spays and neuters as well as oral surgery. The veterinarian will also perform dental procedures such as dental cleanings and extractions. Diagnostic work includes digital radiography, blood pressure monitoring, ocular pressure testing, bloodwork, fecal exams, feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency testing, and heartworm and tick-borne disease screening. The role involves collaborating with the wider veterinary team, managing appointments that range from 15-minute wellness or recheck visits to 30-minute sick patient consultations, and contributing to the continued growth of surgical and appointment services within the practice. The clinic ideally seeks a veterinarian with surgical and dental skills and several years of experience, though the position may also be suitable for the right new graduate who is confident in their clinical abilities.

Practice Details
The practice operates across two locations and offers a full range of small animal veterinary services. Facilities include surgical suites and dental equipment. Diagnostic and medical equipment includes IDEXX in-house blood analyzers, Imagyst AI diagnostic analysis, digital radiography, gas anesthesia, and technician-monitored anesthesia during surgical procedures. The hospital utilizes Avimark electronic medical records and is exploring AI note-taking technology. Services include preventive care, surgery, dental care, diagnostics, prescription diets, a full-service pharmacy, boarding for established clients, and emergency care.

Team
The team includes three DVMs, two registered veterinary technicians, four veterinary assistants, two veterinary interns, and shared reception support between the two clinics. The practice culture emphasizes teamwork, camaraderie, and a supportive work environment where team members enjoy collaborating and helping one another as well as delivering excellent patient care.
