Job Description

Introduction
Our client is an independently owned small animal walk in clinic located just one hour northwest of Chicago, seeking one or two veterinarians to join their dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for licensed veterinarians or senior veterinary students who are passionate about diagnostics, surgery, and comprehensive patient care. The hospital offers a diverse caseload with a particular focus on surgery and reproductive medicine, providing an excellent environment for professional growth.

Working Hours / Rota
The practice operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, with rotating Saturday coverage required. This is a full-time position averaging around 40 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The role includes a broad mix of clinical responsibilities with a strong surgical component. The hospital performs approximately 15 procedures daily, including dental procedures, tumor removals, caesarean sections, splenectomies, perineal urethrostomies, gastrointestinal surgeries, orthopedic procedures such as ACL repairs, FHO, patella stabilization, and bone pinning, as well as a range of soft tissue surgeries including hernia and gallbladder procedures. Routine spays and neuters are also part of the caseload. With reproductive medicine being a key focus, veterinarians with an interest in this area will benefit from regular exposure to caesarean procedures. The position is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates, with senior veterinary students also encouraged to apply.

Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house Abaxis and IDEXX analyzers, Biomerieux progesterone testing equipment, a dedicated dental suite, cold laser therapy, Phovia light therapy, and platelet-rich plasma injection therapy. A wide diagnostic network supports case management, with partnerships extending to several universities and specialty laboratories. An on-site pharmacist provides compounded medications and suspensions to support treatment plans. Services offered include vaccinations, dentistry with a hygienist, reproduction, urgent care, and surgery. The caseload is high-volume and walk-in only, creating a fast-paced but well-supported environment.

Team
The team consists of three DVMs supported by a staff-to-doctor ratio of 1.5:1, with plans to expand. The culture emphasizes collaboration, learning, and delivering high-quality care in a progressive setting.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
