Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a privately owned small animal hospital that is hiring for an Associate Veterinarian. The clinic primarily treats cats and dogs, while also seeing the occasional exotic case. They are looking to welcome a compassionate and dedicated veterinarian to join their well-established team and continue delivering high-quality care to their loyal client base.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position offering an excellent work-life balance with a four-day working week with a day off during the week. Veterinarians typically work from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the flexibility to have one shorter day finishing at 3:00 pm when preferred. A one-hour lunch break is built into the schedule each day. The weekend rota consists of working Saturday mornings on a 1 in 4 basis, with no Sunday requirements. The hospital itself is open Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Saturdays from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, remaining closed on Sundays.

Role Description and Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out general practice duties, including diagnosing and treating patients, performing routine surgeries, providing dentistry, and delivering exceptional client education and communication and more. Each veterinarian usually has one dedicated surgical day per week, allowing for focused surgical development, and there is also the added benefit of a board-certified surgeon to visiting the practice for more complex cases if needed once a month. Appointments are generally scheduled in 30-minute blocks, supported by a highly trained front-of-house team who help manage the schedule and can allow for longer consultations where required. The position is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates, with excellent mentorship and support available. The team is highly collaborative, and colleagues are always willing to assist with more challenging cases, making it an ideal environment for learning and professional growth.

Practice Details
The hospital is well-equipped with modern technology to support a high standard of care. Equipment includes digital X-ray, a fully equipped dental suite with dental X-ray, ultrasound, in-house blood and urine machines, as well as both surgical and therapy lasers. The clinic offers a wide range of services, including wellness and preventative care, dermatology, nutrition, behaviour, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, cardiology, pain management, and critical care. The practice is well-established within the community and is known for its commitment to providing consistent, high-quality care to its patients.

Team
The team consists of five full-time veterinarians, including the owners who are actively involved in the day-to-day running of the practice. They are supported by a strong team of 14 technicians, seven of whom are registered, as well as an experienced administrative team. The practice maintains an excellent support staff to doctor ratio of approximately two to three support staff per veterinarian. The culture within the clinic is highly supportive and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, continuity of care, and maintaining a positive working environment. Staff retention is very strong, reflecting the positive and inclusive culture of the practice.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
