Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a full-service small animal hospital in Dubuque, Iowa, seeking an Associate Veterinarian. The hospital treats dogs, cats, and a small percentage of exotic pets, providing medical, surgical, and customer care at an AAHA-accredited facility.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM for urgent care. The role is part-time with flexible scheduling options, including coverage for urgent care and general practice shifts.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will perform routine and advanced soft tissue surgeries, dentistry, wellness exams, internal medicine, ophthalmology, radiology, and support urgent care cases. Responsibilities include diagnosing, treating, and communicating with clients while maintaining high standards of veterinary care. The role is open to experienced veterinarians and those with urgent care or emergency experience.
Practice Details
The hospital features a remodeled facility with surgical and dental suites, a separate cat waiting area, multiple exam rooms, an ultrasound room, and office space. The support staff is well-trained and empowered to perform tasks such as radiographs, IV catheter placement, intubation, monitoring, and medication administration. The hospital offers services including wellness exams, vaccinations, spay and neuter, microchipping, in-house laboratory, surgery, dental care, radiology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, laser therapy, and after-hours services.
Team
The hospital has seven DVMs supported by at least 2.5 technicians and assistants per doctor each day. The environment is collaborative, team-oriented, and supportive, with mentorship programs and leadership training opportunities to foster professional growth.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
