Introduction
Our client is a hospital in Crystal Lake, Illinois, seeking a Critical Care Veterinarian to join their established emergency and specialty team. This 24/7 facility provides dedicated care for companion animals and is the only hospital of its kind in the region. The hospital handles a broad range of emergency and complex referral cases and is committed to providing advanced, collaborative veterinary care.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The role offers flexibility and support for work-life balance, with shift scheduling designed to accommodate a sustainable lifestyle.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This position focuses on emergency and critical care, with responsibilities including managing acute medical cases, working closely with specialists, and participating in a collaborative team environment. The role supports professional development and mentorship through senior ER doctors and is well suited to veterinarians with experience in emergency and intensive care settings.

Practice Details
The hospital features advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including digital radiography, ultrasound, cold laser, endoscopy, CT scanning, ECG/EKG, and a fully equipped in-house laboratory. A wide range of diagnostic services are offered, such as rhinoscopy, bone marrow biopsy, CSF and joint taps, endoscopic foreign body retrieval, and PEG tube placement. Services provided span internal medicine, critical care, surgery, integrative therapies such as hydrotherapy, and ongoing chronic disease management. The practice culture emphasizes clinical excellence, rapid diagnostics, and collaborative case management.

Team
The hospital is home to 8 DVMs, including an internal medicine specialist. The environment is collaborative, with a strong focus on mentorship, cross-discipline support, and high standards of patient care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
