Job Description
Introduction
Combining seven-day General Practice with Urgent Care and advanced surgical capabilities, this modern small animal hospital in Chino Hills, California is looking to welcome a Veterinarian to its growing team. Providing care for dogs and cats, the hospital has served the local community since 2022 and offers a broad caseload that stretches well beyond routine wellness, with Orthopedics, Ophthalmology and more involved surgical cases all forming part of the clinical offering. It’s a nice opportunity for someone who enjoys the relationships that come with General Practice but wants plenty of variety throughout their working week.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your patients from initial diagnosis through to treatment planning and ongoing case management. You’ll have the freedom to use your own clinical judgement and practice medicine to a high standard, while working closely with a supportive paraprofessional team to keep patient care running smoothly. The hospital’s broader diagnostic, surgical and Urgent Care capabilities mean there’s plenty of opportunity to get involved with more interesting cases alongside everyday GP work, with direct access to board-certified specialists within the wider clinical network when another perspective would be useful. Client communication and building lasting relationships are also an important part of the role, while structured mentorship, continuing education and wider development opportunities are available to help you continue progressing clinically.
Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP services alongside Urgent Care, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology and Laser Therapy, with both routine and advanced surgical procedures managed within the practice. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Radiography, Ultrasound, ECG, Tonometry, Blood and Laboratory Testing, a Surgical Laser and modern anesthetic monitoring equipment. Surgical capabilities include Soft Tissue Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, CCL Repair and TPLO, giving veterinarians the opportunity to manage a particularly broad range of cases in-house. The hospital is open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Friday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. It is not a 24-hour Emergency hospital, with Urgent Care provided during regular operating hours.
Team
You’ll currently be joining a 3-DVM team, including a Lead Veterinarian, alongside an established paraprofessional and wider hospital support team. Being a relatively young hospital gives the team a nice opportunity to continue developing together, while the wider clinical network provides access to additional veterinarians and board-certified specialists when more complex cases would benefit from another opinion. There’s a strong emphasis on collaboration without taking away your clinical independence, giving you people to bounce ideas off and learn from while still having the freedom to take ownership of your own patients and develop your individual approach to practice.
