Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a privately owned hospital seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their team. The hospital is a small animal practice, primarily seeing cats and dogs, but would also be open to a doctor bringing in an exotics clientele if they have prior experience.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm, Saturday from 8am to 12pm, and is closed on Sundays. A full-time doctor would typically work four days per week with occasional rotating Saturdays. While full-time is preferred, the hospital is open to discussing flexible scheduling options, including part-time.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This is a full-service general practice role. The position involves providing comprehensive veterinary care including wellness, preventative medicine, diagnostics, dentistry and surgery. Appointment times are structured at 20 minutes for routine visits and 30 minutes for new clients or sick patients. The role is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates, with mentorship available.
Practice Details
The hospital offers a full-service general practice caseload, with some orthopedic procedures also performed in-house. It is well-equipped with standard surgery tools, orthopedic surgery equipment, in-house labs (Heska), digital x-ray, ultrasound, and a radiosurgery unit.
Team
The current team includes one DVM supported by a strong support staff, maintaining at least a 2:1 staff-to-doctor ratio, with this sometimes increasing to 3:1.
