Job Description
Introduction
A long-established small animal hospital that has been caring for the Boise community since 1976 is looking to hire an Associate Veterinarian. Providing care for dogs and cats, the hospital has built a strong reputation locally and offers a broad General Practice caseload with the ability to manage everything from everyday medicine through to more involved diagnostic and surgical cases. There’s a nice community feel to the practice, with a real focus on building long-term relationships with clients while maintaining a high standard of veterinary medicine.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This role encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your cases across diagnostics, treatment planning, medicine, surgery and dentistry. The hospital is particularly well set up for someone who enjoys having variety in their day and wants the freedom to work through more involved cases rather than immediately referring them elsewhere, with access to additional specialist input when another perspective would be useful. You’ll have plenty of autonomy in how you practice while working alongside a team that values collaboration, good communication and maintaining high clinical standards. The hospital also places a strong emphasis on continued development, with mentorship and ongoing learning available as you continue building your skills and exploring your own clinical interests.
Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP services alongside Urgent Care and Orthopedics, with additional capabilities across advanced medical and surgical care. Equipment and clinical resources available include, but are not limited to, Digital Dental Radiography, Digital Multi-Parameter Anesthetic Monitoring, an In-House Laboratory, and state-of-the-art surgical equipment, giving the team a good range of resources for investigating and managing cases within the hospital. The practice is also able to collaborate directly with board-certified specialists when more complex cases would benefit from additional expertise. The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Team
You’ll currently be joining a 2-DVM team, working alongside an established group of veterinary technicians, assistants and client service professionals. There’s a strong emphasis on working collaboratively rather than everyone simply managing cases in isolation, with the wider support team helping doctors stay focused on examining, diagnosing and treating their patients. The hospital also places a lot of value on continued learning and professional development, so there’s plenty of opportunity to share ideas, talk through cases and make use of the wider clinical knowledge available when you need it.
