Introduction
Our client is a full-service small animal hospital in Alexandria, Virginia, seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join its recently remodeled practice on either a full-time or part-time basis. The hospital provides medical and surgical care for dogs and cats and offers flexible scheduling, stable hours, medical autonomy, and a supportive environment. The opportunity is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will provide medical and surgical care while building relationships with clients and supporting the ongoing health of their pets. The role includes wellness care, vaccinations, diagnostic imaging, dentistry, and surgery, with a strong emphasis on pain management and patient safety throughout surgical procedures, anesthesia, and postoperative care. Dental responsibilities include oral examinations, cleanings, polishing, extractions, and dental X-rays to assess and diagnose oral health conditions. Veterinarians will have autonomy over how they practice medicine and access to mentorship and regular check-ins, with new graduates specifically welcomed and supported. There is also an opportunity to learn from a Medical Director with an active background in NIH-funded ocular research for veterinarians interested in developing their knowledge of eye medicine.

Practice Details
The recently remodeled hospital is equipped with a surgical laser, cautery unit, endoscope, ultrasound, diagnostic imaging capabilities, an in-house laboratory, cold laser therapy, and dental X-ray technology. Services include wellness care, vaccinations, diagnostic imaging, in-house laboratory testing, cold laser therapy, surgery, and dentistry, including dental cleanings, extractions, and X-rays. The hospital emphasizes thoughtful and skilled medical and surgical care, using advanced surgical techniques while prioritizing pain management and patient safety. The practice has long-standing relationships with clients and offers veterinarians medical autonomy alongside technology and clinical support. The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

The hospital currently has 1 DVM alongside a great tenured support team, with many team members having been with the practice for more than a decade. Experienced veterinary mentors support new graduates through regular check-ins and structured mentorship.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
