When it comes to veterinary salaries, there’s one thing we’ve learned after speaking with a wide range of veterinary professionals across globe: the numbers can vary massively.

As a global veterinary recruitment agency, we see salaries and “packages” posted and advertised every single day. Some are eye-catchingly high in an effort to pull in more applicants. Others stick to a fixed banding, or simply hide behind the word “competitive.”

But here’s the truth, the only figure that really matters is the one written on the contract. And that’s where we like to dig in.

In this snapshot, we’ve shared the average median salary (the middle figure from our data) along with the salary ranges (the lowest and highest offers we’ve seen made). The figures for the UK and USA come directly from our own data, gathered from real offers made by our clients to our candidates between August 2024 and 13th August 2025.

For Australia and Europe, we’ve looked to other trusted sources, including Glassdoor, Indeed, and Payscale, to give you a side-by-side comparison of these markets.

United Kingdom (UK)

  • Median: £65,000

  • Range: £37,000 – £90,000

United States (USA)

  • Median: $144,000

  • Range: $90,000 – $250,000
    💡 Around 1 in 11 offers include a sign-on bonus, averaging $20,000

Australia

  • Median: AU $79,500

  • Range: AU$61,000 – AU$180,000

Europe

Germany – Avg €83,082 (€57,243 – €101,443)
France (Paris) – Avg €83,065 (€57,232 – €101,423)
Belgium – Avg €79,682 (€55,772 – €98,835)

What We’re Noticing

It is clear that salaries are increasing, growth seen across all pay scales but at varying rates, but not always in line with the rising demand.

In some areas, pay has increased due to competitive hiring, while in others, figures have remained stagnant despite a well-documented global skills shortage.

Your Turn

Do these figures reflect what you’re seeing in your market?

Are salaries rising where you work, or staying flat despite the demand for skilled veterinary professionals?

We’d love to hear from vets, RVNs, vet techs, practice owners, and recruiters across the UK, USA, and beyond.
