Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital located in Berkeley, California, currently seeking a full-time Veterinary Medical Oncologist to join their established small animal practice.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates 24/7. Doctor hours are to be discussed. This is a full-time position.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Medical Oncologist will be responsible for diagnosing and treating cancer in small animal patients using state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic tools. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, compassionate oncology care while collaborating closely with other specialists and the emergency team. This position is open to experienced candidates.
Practice Details
The hospital features a modern, recently remodeled facility that includes a negative-pressure chemotherapy room, USP 800-compliant chemotherapy hood, a dedicated radiology imaging room, new digital radiology equipment, a GE Optima CT540 scanner, three surgical suites, a full clinical laboratory, and 13 exam rooms across a two-building campus. The hospital supports a broad caseload and offers specialized services in radiology, surgery, ophthalmology, exotic medicine, and emergency care.
Team
The team includes two experienced medical oncologists, two onsite radiologists, a surgeon, two ophthalmologists, and an exotic animal specialist, supported by a skilled 24/7 emergency department. The hospital is known for its cohesive, positive culture and strong staff retention, with a talented group of doctors, experienced nurses, and a supportive management team.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
