Our client is a multi-specialty and emergency hospital based in Charlottesville, Virginia, currently seeking a Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Dermatologist (DVM) to join their expert team. This small animal referral practice provides advanced specialty and emergency care for dogs and cats, serving as a trusted resource for pet owners and referring veterinarians across the region. With established departments in surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, ophthalmology, critical care, and rehabilitation, this is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and progressive hospital dedicated to providing exceptional care and clinical excellence.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital’s specialty services operate Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., while the emergency department runs 24/7 to provide continuous care. This position is available full-time or part-time, offering flexibility to accommodate individual preferences. There are no after-hours or overnight requirements for this role, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Dermatologist will diagnose, manage, and treat a wide range of dermatological and allergic conditions in small animal patients. Responsibilities include performing dermatologic exams, interpreting cytology, conducting biopsies, allergy testing, and developing comprehensive treatment plans. The role involves close collaboration with other specialty and emergency clinicians to ensure cohesive, multidisciplinary patient care. The ideal candidate will be board-certified or residency-trained in Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD) and demonstrate strong communication skills, clinical expertise, and a team-oriented approach to patient care.

Practice Details
The hospital is a modern, fully equipped facility that supports complex diagnostics and advanced procedures. Equipment includes a fully stocked surgical suite with electrocautery and ventilator capability, digital radiography with access to off-site board-certified consults, ultrasound, glaucoma tonometry, and comprehensive in-house laboratory analyzers for chemistry, hematology, clotting, and electrolyte testing. The hospital also provides oxygen therapy, transfusion services with fresh blood products, and advanced monitoring systems. Services offered include surgery, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, rehabilitation, pain management, and advanced imaging, allowing for seamless collaboration between departments.

The hospital is home to 15 veterinarians, including a team of board-certified specialists and experienced emergency clinicians, supported by a large, skilled team of technicians and support staff. Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
