Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a large, AAHA-accredited 24-hour emergency, specialty, and general practice hospital seeking a Specialty Medical Director. This hospital provides care for small animals and offers a unique opportunity for a residency-trained or board-certified veterinary specialist to transition into a leadership role while continuing clinical practice.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates full-time with no specified after-hours requirements for this leadership position. The schedule is structured to support consistent, dedicated work within the hospital’s 24-hour operations.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Specialty Medical Director will establish the direction and medical quality of the hospital, providing leadership, mentorship, and oversight to the medical team. Responsibilities include maintaining high clinical standards, collaborating with support staff and specialists, and practicing advanced medicine in areas such as internal medicine, neurology, surgery, emergency & critical care, and oncology. This role is suited for experienced residency-trained or board-certified specialists seeking both leadership and clinical practice.
Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, including an interventional radiology suite, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, lithotripsy, and nuclear scintigraphy, and is one of only two hospitals in the state performing dialysis. It offers access to a network of specialists within the VCA system and maintains a culture of clinical excellence, collaboration, and continual professional development.

Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
