Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a privately owned hospital that provides care for small animals including dogs, cats, and pocket pets. They are currently hiring for an Associate Veterinarian to join their team. As the oldest and largest veterinary hospital in Matthews, this practice is deeply embedded in the local community, giving back through donations to groups, charities, schools, and churches, as well as helping stray animals find homes.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position consisting of four shifts per week. The schedule includes 1 in 2 Saturday mornings and features staggered shifts from 8 am – 4 pm, 9 am – 5 pm, and 10 am – 6 pm. Doctor hours run from 8 am to 6 pm on weekdays and from 8 am to 12 pm on Saturdays. The hospital is closed on Sundays.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will be responsible for all typical general practice duties. The role includes one dedicated surgery day and three days focused on appointments, with 30-minute appointment slots for both well and sick patients. The hospital is open to both new graduates, offering mentorship, and experienced veterinarians. There is flexibility for candidates with a variety of interests, and they would also consider a veterinarian who does not perform surgery.
Practice Details
The hospital is AAHA accredited and offers a wide range of services including pet wellness and healthcare, diagnostic services, surgical procedures including CCL repair, pet dental care, client services, and grooming. The facility includes 5 exam rooms and is equipped with digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, in-house lab machines, lasers, and a paperless system. A renovation of the hospital is planned within the next year.
Team
The team consists of 9 DVMs, including 4 full-time and 5 part-time veterinarians, supported by a strong group of support staff. Each doctor is paired daily with both a technician and an assistant. The working environment is collaborative and supportive, with an emphasis on mentoring and individualized interests.
