General Practice Veterinarian (Veterinarian)

Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital located in Highland Park, Illinois, currently hiring an Associate Veterinarian to join their multi-doctor general practice team. This established practice serves dogs and cats and is known for delivering high-quality, personalized care in a collaborative and supportive environment. This is not a privately owned hospital.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open to both part-time and full-time candidates. The current scheduling priority includes Friday and Saturday availability, with additional weekday coverage—particularly on Wednesdays or Thursdays—being ideal for those interested in surgery. The preferred schedule is approximately three days per week, with a request for availability at least three Saturdays per month. Flexibility in scheduling is offered to meet the needs of the successful candidate.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will provide preventive care, wellness exams, dentistry, and routine to advanced soft tissue surgeries. Additional responsibilities include internal medicine, chronic condition management, cold laser therapy, and end-of-life care. The hospital welcomes DVMs with interests in dermatology, cardiology, ophthalmology, and ultrasound. The position is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates, who will receive dedicated mentorship.

Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with in-house lab capabilities, radiology, ultrasound, cold laser therapy, Tonopen, and support for specialized areas such as dermatology and cardiology. The practice is community-focused, with a reputation for strong client relationships and a high standard of personalized medicine.

Team
The team includes four DVMs and a tenured support staff. The environment is highly collaborative, with an emphasis on communication, mentorship, and professional development.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
