General Practice Veterinarian (Associate Veterinarian)

Introduction
Our client is a 24-hour veterinary hospital providing general practice, emergency, and specialty services and is hiring an experienced Avian and Exotics or Zoological Medicine Specialist. The role is suited to a board-certified, residency-trained, or experienced clinician seeking to practice advanced zoo and exotic animal medicine within a well-resourced, collaborative environment.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday and Tuesday from 9:00am to 8:00pm, Wednesday from 8:00am to 8:00pm, Thursday from 9:00am to 8:00pm, Friday from 8:00am to 8:00pm, and Saturday from 9:00am to 2:00pm, with the hospital closed on Sundays. The role is available on either a full-time or part-time basis. No after-hours or on-call requirements are required.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Avian and Exotics or Zoological Medicine Specialist will focus on advanced medical and diagnostic care for zoo, avian, and exotic species. Responsibilities include managing complex medical cases, performing diagnostics and procedures appropriate to exotic and zoological patients, collaborating with emergency, general practice, and specialty teams, and contributing clinical expertise across disciplines such as surgery, critical care, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging. This position is intended for experienced clinicians with advanced training in zoological or avian and exotic medicine.

Practice Details
The hospital is AAHA accredited and offers 24-hour GP, ER, and specialty services within a remodeled facility featuring twelve exam rooms, three surgical suites, updated treatment areas, ICU wards, and a dedicated waiting room. There is a private building with quiet hospitalization space specifically for zoo medicine and exotic species. Diagnostic and treatment resources include a GE Logiq ultrasound, endoscopic equipment, Snyder ICU units, Covidien cautery units, digital radiology, echocardiography, EKG, laparoscopy, laser surgery, cold laser therapy, Tonopen, and ophthalmology capabilities. Additional facilities include an in-house laboratory, in-house pharmacy, in-house endoscopy, intensive care unit, isolation ward, oxygen and transfusion therapy, and a fully equipped in-office surgical suite. The hospital provides a broad range of services across emergency care, hospitalization, preventive care, dentistry, anesthesia, pain management, radiology, and general and soft tissue surgery. The location is noted as being approximately eight miles from Philadelphia.

Team
The clinical team consists of seven DVMs supported by a fantastic and experienced support team. The environment is collaborative and teaching-focused, with access to a broader network of specialists and a shared commitment to delivering world-class veterinary medicine.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
