Introduction
Our client is a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital based in Asheville, North Carolina, seeking a Veterinary Surgeon who is either board-certified or residency-trained to join their growing team. This state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to providing advanced surgical and emergency care to small animals across Asheville, Buncombe County, and the surrounding communities. The hospital is expanding its specialty services, offering an excellent opportunity for a surgeon who is passionate about collaboration, high-quality medicine, and continuous professional growth.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing emergency and critical care around the clock. The Veterinary Surgeon will work a full-time schedule with flexibility to accommodate surgical caseloads and collaborative cases from other departments. There are no primary overnight responsibilities, as emergency services are covered by a dedicated ER team.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Veterinary Surgeon will play an integral role in delivering advanced surgical care, including both soft tissue and orthopedic procedures, within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary hospital environment. Responsibilities include performing complex surgeries, working closely with emergency and specialty doctors on shared cases, providing consultations, and maintaining clear communication with clients and referring veterinarians. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to compassionate care, precision in surgical technique, and a desire to contribute to the continued growth of the hospital’s surgical services. This position is open to board-certified surgeons or residency-trained veterinarians with a strong interest in expanding their skills and building lasting relationships with referring partners.

Practice Details
The hospital features a modern, newly remodeled facility with expanded treatment areas, multiple surgical suites, and advanced diagnostic tools. Equipment includes on-site CT, multiple radiology suites, a dedicated ICU with a feline-friendly ward, a fully equipped laboratory, and advanced monitoring systems. Imaging is read by a network of radiologists to ensure accurate and efficient case management. The hospital currently provides emergency, urgent care, surgery, and ophthalmology services, with plans to continue expanding specialty offerings.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
