Job Description
Introduction
Our client is an AAHA-accredited small animal hospital in West Caldwell seeking an experienced Medical Director to lead their established and compassionate team. The hospital has provided trusted veterinary care to the community for over 60 years, combining high-quality medicine with a family-focused culture in a newly renovated facility.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position. The hospital is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The hospital is closed on weekends. There are no emergency hours required, offering a balanced schedule with flexibility.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will lead by example, defining, implementing, and promoting medical policies and procedures to ensure the highest standard of patient care. The role includes providing mentorship, overseeing medical operations, and delivering exceptional clinical and surgical services. The position is suited for an experienced veterinarian who thrives in a collaborative environment, values professional development, and enjoys building strong relationships with clients and team members.
Practice Details
This long-standing, AAHA-accredited hospital offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services including preventative healthcare, surgery, dentistry with intraoral radiography, radiology, ultrasound (as needed), microchipping, pain management, and hospice care. The hospital also provides a full pharmacy with prescription medications, diets, and supplements. With modern facilities and advanced monitoring during surgical and dental procedures, the practice ensures patient safety and comfort at all times. The culture emphasizes teamwork, mentorship, and compassion in a supportive environment that values work-life balance.
Team
The hospital currently has 3 veterinarians supported by a tenured and skilled support team. The team is collaborative, experienced, and dedicated to delivering outstanding patient care and client service in a positive and family-oriented atmosphere.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
