Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a full-service, AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital located in Charleston, South Carolina, seeking a Medical Lead Veterinarian to guide and support their team. This well-established small animal hospital provides comprehensive care for dogs and cats, offering everything from wellness and preventive services to advanced diagnostics, surgery, and behavioral care. Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with Sundays closed. This is a full-time position, and the schedule offers excellent work-life balance, with no after-hours or emergency responsibilities. The Medical Lead will work alongside the hospital manager to ensure smooth operations and consistent, high-quality patient care.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Lead Veterinarian will dedicate approximately 80–90% of their time to clinical duties and 10–20% to leadership responsibilities. Clinically, the role involves performing wellness exams, surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, and diagnostic procedures while providing compassionate client education and communication. As a leader, the Medical Lead will mentor and support associate veterinarians, promote a culture of teamwork and continuous learning, and help shape hospital protocols and policies. They will collaborate closely with the Hospital Manager to drive operational and medical excellence, enhance client satisfaction, and strengthen the hospital’s reputation for outstanding care.

The hospital is AAHA-accredited and fully equipped with advanced diagnostic tools and modern facilities, including digital radiography, dental equipment, in-house laboratory diagnostics, and surgical suites. Services include wellness and preventive care, internal medicine, dermatology, dentistry, diagnostics, behavioral consultations, surgery, and urgent care. The clinic emphasizes continuous improvement and high-quality medicine, supported by robust operational resources and access to regional medical leaders.

Team
The hospital currently has a team of one DVM supported by a skilled and dedicated group of veterinary technicians and support staff. Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
