Introduction
Our client is an AAHA-accredited animal hospital based in East Memphis, Tennessee, seeking a Medical Director to lead their dedicated veterinary team. This long-established, 10,000-square-foot hospital has built a strong reputation for delivering comprehensive, compassionate care to dogs and cats within the local community. The ideal candidate will be an experienced veterinarian who leads with empathy and collaboration, fostering an environment that encourages professional development, teamwork, and clinical excellence.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday to Friday, with opening hours from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm on Mondays and Fridays, and 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday through Thursday. The hospital is closed on weekends, providing an excellent work-life balance. This is a full-time position with a flexible four-day workweek, allowing the Medical Director to lead effectively while maintaining personal and professional balance.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will oversee all aspects of clinical operations, ensuring the delivery of the highest standard of veterinary medicine while promoting a positive, collaborative workplace culture. Responsibilities include guiding and mentoring the veterinary team, overseeing medical protocols and case management, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and the local community. The role also involves performing routine and advanced medical, surgical, and dental procedures, as well as providing compassionate care through wellness, internal medicine, and preventive services. This position is open to experienced veterinarians who have a proven ability to lead teams, uphold medical excellence, and inspire those around them.

Practice Details
The hospital is AAHA-accredited and Cat Friendly Certified by the American Association of Feline Practitioners, reflecting its commitment to exceptional standards of care. The facility is modern, paperless, and fully equipped with six exam rooms (including two feline-only), digital radiography, dental x-ray, ultrasound, in-house laboratory, surgical suite with advanced monitoring, dental suite, cold laser therapy, and an on-site pharmacy. The practice provides a full range of services, including routine check-ups, surgery, dentistry, spay/neuter procedures, preventive care, cold laser therapy, and emergency support.

Team
The hospital currently has a team of two veterinarians supported by a highly skilled group of technicians, assistants, and client care staff, many of whom have been part of the practice for several years. The team culture is warm, family-like, and highly collaborative, emphasizing mentorship, professional growth, and client relationships.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
