Introduction
Our client is a veterinary hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia, seeking a compassionate and experienced Medical Director to lead their team. This multi-doctor hospital provides care for both small animals and exotics and has built a strong reputation for high-quality, personalized medicine since its founding in 2006. This opportunity is ideal for a veterinarian with strong leadership skills who is looking to make a lasting impact in a supportive, community-focused environment.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 7:00pm and on Saturdays from 7:30am to 1:00pm, with Sundays closed. The Medical Director role is full-time with no after-hours requirements, offering a balanced schedule that allows for both professional fulfillment and personal well-being.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will oversee the delivery of high-quality medical and surgical care while leading a team dedicated to compassionate service. Clinical responsibilities include general practice, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, exotic pet care, and preventative medicine. Leadership responsibilities include mentoring associate veterinarians, supporting staff development, and ensuring a collaborative, client-focused environment. This role is best suited to an experienced veterinarian ready to step into a leadership position and guide the hospital into its next chapter.

The hospital is equipped with advanced technology and modern facilities, including ultrasound, laser therapy, and a dedicated dentistry suite. A wide range of services are provided, from preventative care and wellness to surgical procedures and exotic pet medicine. The practice fosters a culture of trust, respect, and client partnership, ensuring every patient receives personalized, comprehensive care.
Team
The practice is home to four veterinarians supported by a dedicated and skilled team of support staff. The environment is collaborative and patient-focused, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, mentorship, and client communication.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
