Our client is an AAHA-accredited animal hospital based in Charleston, South Carolina, seeking a Medical Director to lead their dedicated and compassionate team. This long-standing hospital has proudly served the Charleston community for over 40 years, providing small animal veterinary care rooted in excellence, advanced diagnostics, and a deeply personal approach to client service. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced veterinarian ready to step into a leadership role while maintaining a strong clinical presence.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., while remaining closed on Sundays. The Medical Director works a full-time schedule with a rotating Saturday shift and no after-hours or Sunday requirements, ensuring a sustainable work-life balance in one of South Carolina’s most vibrant coastal cities.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As Medical Director, you will lead both clinically and operationally, guiding a talented veterinary team in the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care. Alongside your clinical duties—which include wellness exams, sick visits, dentistry, internal medicine, dermatology, and advanced case management—you will oversee the hospital’s medical standards, support associate development, and foster a culture of collaboration and excellence. You will work closely with the Hospital Manager to ensure smooth daily operations and the continuous growth of the hospital’s medical and client service offerings. This role is suited to an experienced veterinarian who demonstrates strong leadership, clear communication, and a commitment to both team mentorship and exceptional patient outcomes.

This well-equipped, modern hospital features digital radiology, dental x-ray, an on-site laboratory, and advanced diagnostic capabilities that allow for efficient, thorough case management. Services include preventive wellness care, dentistry, dermatology, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, geriatric and diabetic care, transfusion therapy, pain management, nutrition and behaviour counselling, urology, and intensive care. Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
