Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital hiring for a part-time Emergency Veterinarian to join an after-hours small animal emergency practice on the west side of Indianapolis. The clinic treats companion animals and operates during nights, weekends, and holidays.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open nights from 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM, weekends from Friday 6:00 PM through Monday 8:00 AM, and on holidays. The position is part-time, offering flexibility with 3 to 6 shifts per month.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Emergency Veterinarian will perform comprehensive diagnostics, manage urgent and critical care cases, conduct emergency surgeries such as GDVs, C-sections, pyometras, foreign body removals, and trauma cases, and provide client communication and education. The position requires overnight, weekend, and holiday availability. It is open to experienced veterinarians, with mentorship provided to support a smooth transition into emergency practice.

Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical tools, including a full digital radiology system, ultrasound, paperless medical records, and a complete in-house laboratory. The facility is focused exclusively on emergency care and offers a fast-paced, rewarding environment for ER veterinarians.

Team
The team includes four DVMs and a collaborative, supportive staff. The environment emphasizes teamwork, mentorship, and professional development, providing an excellent opportunity for veterinarians seeking flexibility and growth in emergency medicine.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
