Introduction
Our client is a hospital located in Fishers, Indiana, hiring for a Director of Emergency and Critical Care to join their fast-paced, 24-hour emergency department. This advanced specialty and emergency facility supports a wide regional area and offers a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The role provides an opportunity to lead an established emergency and critical care team while continuing to practice clinical medicine as an Emergency DVM.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position within a 24-hour hospital setting.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Director of Emergency and Critical Care is responsible for overseeing the medical quality and patient care standards of all emergency doctors and hospitalists. Reporting to the Medical Director and working closely with hospital leadership, this role combines clinical responsibilities with departmental leadership, mentorship, and operational oversight. The position requires a candidate with strong leadership skills, integrity, a consistent positive attitude, and a desire to model best practices for associate veterinarians and staff.

Practice Details
The hospital spans 30,000 square feet and is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, including a 1.5 Tesla MRI, 64-slice CT scanner, linear accelerator, fluoroscopy, two digital radiology rooms, GE ultrasound units, full endoscopy equipment, neurological electrodiagnostic machines, and a YAG laser. The facility also offers comprehensive physical rehabilitation with two underwater treadmills. It contains 16 exam rooms and dedicated treatment areas for each specialty department. The hospital has a strong reputation in both emergency and specialty care and benefits from integration with a large national network of specialty hospitals and boarded specialists.

Team
The team includes 14 DVMs, with 11 full-time emergency doctors and hospitalists. They are supported by specialists in Internal Medicine, Radiology, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Nutrition, and Physical Rehabilitation. The hospital culture is highly collaborative and team-focused, prioritizing excellence in patient care and interdisciplinary communication.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
