Introduction
Our client is a well-established emergency and critical care hospital based in Blue Ridge, Georgia, currently seeking an Emergency Veterinarian Medical Director to lead their team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced veterinarian with a strong background in emergency medicine to take on a leadership position within a progressive, fast-paced small animal hospital. The hospital provides essential after-hours and emergency care to the local and surrounding areas, ensuring pets receive comprehensive and compassionate medical attention when they need it most.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates full-time emergency services, remaining open 24 hours on weekends from Friday evening through Monday morning, and overnight on weekdays from Tuesday to Thursday. The hospital also provides full 24-hour coverage during major holidays. This position is offered on a full-time basis and provides the opportunity to take ownership of the after-hours service, working alongside a dedicated and skilled team to deliver consistent, high-quality care.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will play a key role in leading and developing the hospital’s emergency department, ensuring smooth clinical operations and setting high standards of patient care. Responsibilities include managing critical medical cases such as gastrointestinal, toxicology, cardiovascular, and renal emergencies, as well as performing emergency surgeries including GDVs, foreign body removals, caesareans, and pyometras. The role also involves mentoring veterinarians and support staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient workplace culture, and helping shape clinical protocols and hospital flow. This position is best suited for an experienced emergency veterinarian who is confident in both clinical practice and leadership.

Practice Details
The hospital is a fully equipped emergency facility featuring modern diagnostic and surgical technology. Available equipment includes ultrasound, digital radiography, and in-house laboratory diagnostics, as well as advanced tools such as endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and state-of-the-art anesthesia machines. The surgical suite is outfitted with equipment like Ligasure, cautery, and a Snyder unit, enabling the team to provide high-quality surgical and intensive care. The hospital also supports professional growth through on-site, RACE-approved continuing education sessions to help doctors stay current with best practices.

Team
The practice is staffed by multiple experienced doctors and a highly skilled team of veterinary technicians and assistants. Together, they provide continuous care throughout nights, weekends, and holidays, ensuring patients receive seamless treatment at all times. The work environment is collaborative, supportive, and focused on mentorship and professional development.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
