Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a full-time, state-of-the-art specialty and emergency hospital seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join their team. This position is available for overnight shifts, and applications are welcomed from current students, new graduates, and experienced veterinarians. The hospital has been a leader in small animal specialty medicine across Nebraska, Northern Kansas, South Dakota, and Western Iowa for the last decade. Their team includes board-certified specialists in internal medicine, surgery, emergency and critical care, neurology, oncology, and diagnostic imaging.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open 24 hours from Monday through Thursday, with limited hours on Friday (12:00 am to 6:00 am) and Sunday (4:00 pm to 12:00 am). It is closed on Saturdays. The Emergency Veterinarian role is offered on a full-time basis and is focused on overnight shift coverage.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Emergency Veterinarian will manage urgent and critical cases, collaborating closely with specialists across multiple disciplines. Responsibilities include triaging and stabilizing patients, performing emergency surgeries, and providing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic care. This position offers strong opportunities for mentorship and professional development, as all doctors enjoy teaching and fostering a collaborative learning environment. Both experienced veterinarians and new graduates are encouraged to apply.
Practice Details
The hospital spans more than 17,000 sq. ft. and is equipped with 11 exam rooms, four operating theaters, and a dedicated ICU with telemetry and long-term mechanical ventilation. Comprehensive facilities and technology include ultrasonography, digital radiography, fluoroscopy, helical CT, MRI, endoscopy, laparoscopy, arthroscopy, advanced orthopedic and soft tissue surgical systems, and a full in-house laboratory. Services offered cover a wide range of specialties including internal medicine, neurology, oncology, surgery, advanced imaging, emergency and critical care, and comprehensive pain management. The hospital is actively rebuilding its emergency department to provide 24/7/365 coverage and has an established internship program.

The team includes board-certified specialists in internal medicine, surgery, emergency and critical care, neurology, oncology, and diagnostic imaging. They are supported by an exceptional group of licensed veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and client service representatives. Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
